Corporate Journalists Reveal Their Fraudulence in Aftermath of Elections
With a transition on the way, from a Biden administration to a Trump administration, news outlets and "journalists" expose their true functions: activism on behalf of the power centers they like.
If there is any refrain that captures the spirit of the elite American Left, post-2024 election, it is one by an anonymous online commenter who puts it plainly: “perhaps you can teach an old dog new tricks, but you can’t teach arrogant elites anything.”
It’s only been a few days since the results of the elections first rolled in, in Donald Trump’s favor, and liberal anchors, journalists, network executives, publication editors, and many such figures in media seem to be losing their collective minds. Such is the reality of American politics at this juncture; news outlets whose functions are supposed to be anchored by critical, unbiased, and truthful reporting, irrespective of party affiliation, are too busy lamenting how they can’t possibly fathom having to wake up everyday to perform the journalistic task that is professionally required of them. (And we wonder why journalism, as an industry, suffers.)
In one recent tweet shared by on and off again CNN contributor, Chief Media Analyst, and uncritical propagandist Brian Stelter, he asks, “Will there be a journalistic brain drain in DC?” He continues, “A talent agent said what I’ve also heard anecdotally: A lot of reporters are ‘questioning if they have it in them to report on another Trump cycle.’”
Imagine the lack of conviction you must have in your work and your mission as a journalist that it only takes a Presidential candidate you don’t like being democratically elected into office to completely forfeit your duties as a reporter and a journalist. Nowhere is there a level of curiosity to perhaps investigate and analyze why people, in droves, opted for the presidential candidate who may be unpopular to some, but beloved to those who voted for him. There is no level of critical analysis to unravel the many layers that are in plain sight to explain how the incumbent party failed so spectacularly to appeal to everyday American voters.
No! Such rigorous analyses, that beckon so-called reporters and journalists to take audit of the political party they favor, is often nowhere to be found. There is no room for it. It is not fit to print anywhere. And it often violates the primary function of these so-called reporters and journalists (read propagandists): obfuscating the truth, and finding the perfect scapegoat so as to avoid having to hold the elites within their own circles to account.
In a recent message to his staff, ProPublica’s Senior Editor Jesse Eisinger stated: “We face the biggest test of our professional lives. Now we get to see if we really meant it when we said we will hold power to account. Will we do so when our subjects have true power on their side and a willingness to use it? We may be harassed. We may be sued. We may be threatened with violence. We may be ignored. Are we just sunshine journalists or are we ready?” It’s almost hard to believe that these are the professionals who occupy the newsrooms and media centers of America, but it is also not surprising. Instead of showing up to do the work they are called to do, they publicly wax poetic about their duties, their morality, the threats they may encounter, as if heroes being summoned to a crime scene to save the day. Media narcissism personified.
That Trump’s reelection represents “the biggest test of [their] professional lives” proves they’ve been missing in action in the years prior under Biden’s tumultuous and scandalous administration, and long before that. That the senior editor of ProPublica would say, at this moment, that now they get to see if they really meant it when they set out on a mission to hold power to account, should instantly raise questions about what the investigative journalism’s outlet was occupied with throughout Biden and Harris’ administration. If they weren’t holding “power to account” then, why start now? If they saw nothing to be made of the use of “true power” wielded by the Democrat party, at the behest of the Biden/Harris administration, in the form of lawfare tactics (and other such mechanisms) to sideline, and potentially eliminate, their political opponent in Trump, why should their coverage of use of power begin now? Should they not be considered “just sunshine journalists,” as Eisinger put it? Afterall, that is in fact what it seems they readily do: blind readers, as the sun does, to the malfeasance of the political party they are often in lockstep with.
As previously documented here on New Outlook, the only time liberal corporate media publications and news outlets go into overdrive and collectively do anything remotely close to honest journalism is during one of two scenarios: 1. When the opposing political party is in office, especially if the figurehead is widely despised, and 2. When a Democratic candidate has soured on the powerful interest groups, and there’s a need to swiftly oust said candidate and find a replacement. Both of these events—the former with Trump, and the latter with Biden and Harris—have been witnessed this year alone, a phenomenon as rare as an eclipse in corporate news media.
Just as self-reflection is not in the Democrat party lexicon after being faced with a major defeat, it is also a virtue missing within American newsrooms and media centers. Failure is never their fault. A journalism industry in collapse can’t possibly be their own doing. American voters choosing Trump over Harris can’t possibly be logically resolved unless filtered through the lens of racism, sexism, xenophobia, and fascism. The blame must always be outsourced so as to avoid ever holding anyone or any entity within the elite circles of the Left accountable. Victimhood is their religion, and they are all devout practitioners. Certainly, old dogs can learn new tricks. But arrogant elites? What more is there to learn when they hold control of every institution in the palm of their hands?
For there to be a journalistic brain drain, first there would have to be some brains.
By the mid 70's the Frankfurt School for Social Research had successfully deconstructed the collegiate schools of journalism from traditional 20th century news reporting skills. It then transformed those schools into opinion molding change agents. Thankfully, the reconstructed journalism schools did not teach Marxist discipline and perseverance. So now the change agents resort to wailing and gnashing of teeth. It's a beautiful thing to behold. Lenin is likely fit to be tied in his grave.
