Behind the Publication
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to alternative voices in the media. As a teenager, Amy Goodman’s reporting on Democracy Now! opened my eyes to politics and culture beyond the mainstream narrative. In college, independent journalists like Abby Martin expanded my understanding of what journalism could be—fearless, unfiltered, and unbound by corporate interests. As an adult, figures like Glenn Greenwald, Whitney Webb, Matt Taibbi, and photojournalists like James Nachtwey continue to shape my perspective on the world. Early on, I channeled that influence into a budding photojournalism career. But waiting for opportunities from mainstream gatekeepers to tell stories that didn’t matter to me felt pointless. A pivot toward independence wasn’t just a choice—it was necessary.
My commitment has always been to adversarial journalism. The topics I cover—bipartisan political corruption, propaganda, corporate media, and identity politics—are rarely fit to print in mainstream outlets, where conformity is the rule. If your outlook doesn’t fit neatly within their narrative, your voice is silenced. This reality drove me to launch New Outlook on Substack: to amplify alternative perspectives that the mainstream relentlessly stifles.
