They can focus-group this all they want. They can get millions of dollars, but the simple reality is: Voters don't want Kamala. She is yet another inauthentic, corporate Dem candidate that voters have rejected over and over and over again. This whole apparatus is so terrible and dysfunctional that they have successfully created a person for Trump as an "outsider." Putting her in office for a month and a half doesn't solve anything. It's an embarrassing idea for a party that continues to embarrass itself.

I didn’t know about all the wheelings and dealings to try and get Kamala elected in 2020. (I was a bit naive back then.😉) I shouldn’t be surprised, though. They will stop at nothing to win, win, win.

Yes! Schemes. Schemes. Schemes. That's the Democratic way!

It makes sense to me that she was being groomed from years back. After Harris was battered by Tulsi Gabbard in the 2019 primary debates, she referred to herself as a “top-tier candidate“. At the time, I thought she was being arrogant; now I know better

It was hers to win from the very beginning.

I'm all for the symbolism of worthy things, so I understand this push to make Harris president for the next two months within that framework. But I think a lot of people see this as a cynical exercise in trying to make history for the party in a way that wasn't earned through the citizens. It would feel like a bit of a cheat.

I also wonder if this is some strategy to make Harris a viable candidate for the 2028 election: Trading "she's brat" for "she's been president." I would have thought she was done at that level -- and maybe she is, and this is just a symbolic act that gives a middle finger to "racist, misogynist America." Who knows if this is chess or something else.?

BTW, that clip of Ford was so nostalgic for me. The girl's narration seemed to evoke a certain sense of Americana from that time (and throughout the '70s as well). It was like listening to a kid who could have been a voice actor for Peanuts.

All I had to do was watch the CNN clip and read the news coverage to know the motivation behind this. Harris's former communications director, Jamal Simmons, wants to spare Harris from having to certify Trump's election. He also think that this would add drama that people want to see, and would make it easier to advocate for Democratic policies.

“It would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things in the public we want to see. This is the moment for us to change the perspective of how Democrats operate,” Simmons said.

I don't think lack of drama is why Harris lost -- not even close.

Simmons also has a petty reason for wanting Biden to resign so Harris can become president: to force Trump to re-do his election merchandise.

Interesting that you hide your face while spewing right-wing rhetoric as if it were something that people might not agree with or that people might dislike you for. Hiding from your own words is exactly what the neo-fascists are doing across this country right now because you are all afraid your employers, your churches, even your families will find out how you think. Trans people have no effect on your life. Gay people have no effect on your life. Your hate, however, affects your life.

Obama's only selling point was that he was to be the first black president. And for all the good it did us as a nation, it worked. Unless and until Democrats do a course correction through radical honesty of their shortcomings we can continue for count on the sole selling point of their presidential candidates being "the first _______ presidential candidate". They tried it will Hillary, they tried it with Kamala, and call me crazy but I'm willing to bet they'll try it again in another four years.

I guess I left out Biden. Maybe he was supposed to be the first vegetable president.

Jerry Ford was neither a clumsy oaf nor stupid, despite how Saturday Night Live portrayed him. And (except for his turn on the Warren Commission), the old Eagle Scout could be painfully honest.

"Formidable nominee..." In hindsight, how poorly did the play that? Good take here. We shall see if they double down on bad moves.

If the Democrats had any brains, they could have figured a way to oust the vegetable-in-chief quite a while ago. Such is the case when each delusional strategy after strategy fails and you’re left wondering where you went wrong.
