Behind the Labels: What Particular Ideologies Really Mean
Understanding two competing visions — Libertarianism vs. Communism — for how society should run.
This was a quick write-up for a Political Science course I’m currently taking. Given its relevance, I thought it was worth posting here.
TODAY’S political landscape in the United States is heavily defined by a variety of clashing ideologies. And the political, cultural, and economical dilemma the country finds itself in, especially over the past decade, is the result of these warring views on how to live and organize society; arguably, this has been the case throughout history. Today’s ideologies, according to W. Phillips Shively’s Power and Choice, “are being shaped by conflicts over the environment, gender, religious values, and identity politics.”
